Make Your Own Maraschino Cherries
For me, an ice cream sundae just isn’t complete unless there’s a cherry on top. Since the ingredients in a jar of typical maraschino cherries leave something to be desired, here’s a great way to make your own. They might not be stop sign red, but what they lack in color they make up for it with a boozy punch. Ka-pow!
Real maraschino cherries are made from a very specific cherry found only in certain parts of the world, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make your own. Sure there are a few modifications, but we’re willing to make the sacrifice for ingredients we can pronounce (and the excuse to purchase a bottle of maraschino liquor).
Over at Cupcake Project they’ve come up with a great little recipe for something a little more homemade than the neon pink and red cherries you loved as a kid. This recipe will keep for two weeks in the refrigerator and once you get past the pitting a bowl full of cherries part, it comes together lightning fast. They can be the perfect way to dress up store bought ice cream or your own creations.
