The Cake-Decorating Tool You Already Have in Your Garage
I’m not sure about the upbringing of anyone else, but my father always said, “If you give the laziest person the hardest job, they’ll find the easiest way to do it.” Admitting this means I’m super lazy, but I’d rather call myself an “outside the box thinker.” When I saw this new, cool tool sweeping the internet that’s intended to help you apply a smooth-as-silk finish to your cakes, I thought to myself, Well I’ve been doing that for years with something from the garage!
Three Little Cakes, an awesome cake-decorating company out of San Francisco, recently released a few videos showcasing their new tool, the Pro Froster, that makes finishing work appear extra easy.
Before I could even click through to see how much this neat little blue plastic contraption was, I had several friends send me the video to watch. Everyone likes making a tricky job easier, right? The only catch is that I’ve already been doing this for years.
I grew up in a household where if you couldn’t find a hammer, you used a brass duck paperweight instead to hammer that nail into your wall in order to hang your art up! My father is currently hanging his head in shame over this, but you know what? A brass duck works, and so does a sliding T-bevel — and it doesn’t cost $25. It does, however, make your husband cringe, which is why I have my own!
For a whole $7 you can pick one up that’s metal instead of plastic and can do any angle you want. Is it cake specific? Nope. Do I need to rub it down with steel wool occasionally if I forgot to dry it off after washing? Yup. But I’m super OK with that!
You can order one like mine from Amazon or you can hop over to pick up the Pro Froster from Three Little Cakes if you’re more into the unitasker route.
