When we first told you about Made In’s sheet pan that was designed for Oakland-based chef Matt Horn of Horn Barbecue, we knew it would sell out quickly. After all, nearly every one of the DTC cookware brand’s products, including their best-selling knives and cult-favorite carbon steel frying pans, has garnered an instant fan club and lengthy waitlist. So we weren’t surprised at all when the sheet pan was gone a mere four hours after it launched. Thankfully, Made In got to work and the sheet pan is available again starting today!

Reasonably priced at $25, this isn’t just any ordinary half-sheet pan. Manufactured in Wisconsin from commercial-grade, 18-gauge aluminum, Made In’s pan is substantially thicker than what you normally get in a sheet pan for home use. Even though the aluminum is incredibly lightweight, the thickness contributes to consistent heat distribution, so you won’t have to worry about hot spots or uneven browning.

But it’s what you can’t see that makes this sheet pan so special. Encapsulated in the thick, rolled rim is an aluminum rod that increases the pan’s strength and durability. Unlike other sheet pans that warp or buckle under temperature changes or heavy loads, Made In’s pan can stand up to both. Don’t forget, it had to perform non-stop at Horn Barbecue, and, like all of Made In’s products, was designed to last in commercial kitchens.

The encapsulated rim also makes the pan super easy to clean because it won’t trap water (or anything else), like sheet pans with open rims. You won’t find any flat edges that are hard to grip, either, which is a good thing when you’re handling a hot pan.

We can think of a ton of uses for Made In’s sheet pan, but cooking and serving barbecue is an obvious choice! The pan’s one-inch depth is also perfect for baking cornbread, brownies and sheet cakes, and helps to contain roasted veggies when flipping or stirring them. It can withstand temperatures up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, go in the freezer if you want to make a quick granita or go from freezer to oven for a batch of cookies.

Whatever you make with your new sheet pan, it’s truly an indispensable kitchen tool. Let’s just hope it doesn’t sell out too quickly this time around!
