Made In’s Tabletop Collection Now Comes in a Stunning New Glaze That’s Perfect for Spring
Just in time for spring, Made In is launching a brand-new colorway for their must-have tableware collection — and it’s predictably stunning. (Hey, this is Made In we’re talking about here. Gorgeous, well-made, and functional is kinda their thing.) Understated, elegant, and with just a hint of a nautical vibe, the navy-rimmed white tableware complements Made In’s existing line, which includes the classic all-white colorway, and one with a snappy red rim. And starting March 9, you can snag your own set of the all-new navy colorway while supplies last.
So how has Made In won over legions of fans? (Including Kitchn editors and me!) The company was founded by restaurant industry veterans, so every thoughtfully designed piece is meant to withstand the rigors of a commercial kitchen. And as someone who picked up their classic white plates right before the wintertime pandemic lockdown, I can definitely tell you that they are as durable, reliable — and yes, gorgeous — as they seem. (I don’t have a commercial kitchen, but I do cook for a four-year-old.) No chips or dings here; The plates are as shiny and porcelain-smooth as the day we unboxed them. They go from stacked in the cupboard to the dinner table, then right to the dishwasher with nary a nick, knife mark, or scratch. Plus, they stand up to prep work (the bowls are the perfect size for scrambling a couple of eggs) and trips to the microwave for reheating leftovers.
That’s because Made In doesn’t cut any corners: Their dinnerware is made in the English town of Stoke-on-Trent, the world capital of ceramics. Using a glazing process called vitrification, the plates are super-heated, giving them a nearly poreless, glasslike finish that’s resistant to scratches that weaken the plate — and give bacteria a place to hide. The result: plates, bowls, and platters that are super-shiny, sturdy, and meant to last.
Currently, the hand-painted navy colorway collection includes dinner plates, appetizer plates, entrée bowls, side bowls, and a serving platter. Except for the serving platter, everything else is available in boxes of four, which is perfect for those who already have some Made In plates and want to mix-and-match, as all three colorways complement one another.
Like previous Made In releases (e.g., their legendary blue carbon steel skillet and must-have Santoku knife), the navy-rimmed dinnerware pieces will probably sell out soon. So whether you’re looking to give your tablescape an upgrade, or just looking to invest in a few key pieces that’ll last, then you’ll want to snag Made In’s newest navy line ASAP. I know I am!
