Luke Bryan Is Launching His Own Popcorn Brand — And Yes, He Helped Harvest It on His Farm
In 2020, country singer Luke Bryan went viral when he shared a video to Instagram showing off the haul from his overabundant sweet corn harvest. As the story goes, he had “gotten bored” during the pandemic and planted four acres of the crop. Now, two years later, he and corporate partner Fendt have found something to do with all that corn he’s been growing: they’re selling it as packaged popcorn.
Starting tomorrow, Thursday, August 25, popcorn lovers and country music fans will be able to purchase Fendt & Luke Bryan’s Boldly Grown Popcorn — created in partnership with Merritt Pop Co. — through a dedicated website. The snack — which the One Margarita singer says is his favorite treat — is being released in two flavors: savory “Bold Butter” and sweet “Chart Toppin’ Churro.” The limited-time, “farm-to-fan” line will also be available during Luke’s upcoming Farm Tour concert series, which is also sponsored by Fendt.
“I’ve sung about farming my entire career,” Luke said of his latest collaboration. “So having the chance to work with Fendt to grow my favorite snack for my fans is pretty special.”
Boldly Grown Popcorn also adds to the country star’s dedication to supporting the farm industry, which is what prompted him to launch his Farm Tour series in 2010. Once the popcorn sells out, Fendt and its parent company AGCO will donate $25,000 to the National FFA Organization, a non-profit which works to help students discover careers and opportunities in farming.
Last year, the American Idol judge partnered with Fendt for the 25-episode YouTube series Rise Before Sunrise, a combination marketing campaign for the German agri-machinery manufacturer and an intimate look at day-to-day life on a farm. Each new episode of the series was released at dawn as an homage to farmers’ long days.
The pandemic may have given Luke the time to slow down and work his land in Tennessee, but it was not his introduction to farm work. A native of the South Georgia town of Leesburg (near Albany), he was still working at a farmer’s peanut mill even in the earliest days of his musical career.
“I was still gigging. I was still playing concerts Fridays and Saturday nights,” he told Apple Music Country’s Ty Bentli Show last year. “I’d be in the damn peanut mill on a Thursday, and God, I’d have to go drive through the night and sing college shows with peanut dust all in my lungs. It was a wonder. I probably sounded pretty awful back then!”
Fendt & Luke Bryan’s Boldly Grown Popcorn will be available for $5 plus shipping at boldlygrowngoods.com. The website also contains tons of footage — from Luke explaining how the popcorn came about to him sharing more behind-the-scenes moments from his own farming experience.
