Now, these aren’t just any old holiday cookies from some hyped up bakery in New York City. These two recipes happen to come straight from Momofuku pastry chef Christina Tosi’s family cookbook, passed down for several generations. And they’re simply worth trying!

Christina Tosi wrote a bit about her own holiday traditions over at Gilt Taste this week. Her charming story about skipping Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family to spend the holidays working in a NYC kitchen, only to have a surprise Christmas visit from her mom will make you want to start up a caroling group in your office today. Even better, she and her staff have agreed to share their favorite holiday cookie recipes on Gilt Taste. Read the first installment below (with cinnamon sugar cookie squares and gooey butter cake squares!) and check back throughout the week for more homestyle treats.
