You guys. YOU GUYS. This loaded hummus looks like the dreamiest, most perfect thing to make for summer parties.
While we all have our favorite store-bought hummus brands (mine is Hope), nothing beats the homemade stuff — especially if you blend it up it in your kitchen, compliments of a food processor. This recipe from Taste Love and Nourish is not only the best hummus base, but also the perfect combination of salty, herby, and briny toppings that will have everyone asking for more pita to dip. Once you’re done assembling, this appetizer will look like something you ordered in a restaurant.
According to the recipe author, Caroline, this hummus is so silky and delicious that “you’ll want to lick this off a shoe.” I’m going to take her word for it, but I think that means that this hummus is pretty damn tasty so I’m down to check it out.
This recipe calls for two (15-ounce) cans of chickpeas, drained and rinsed. (But unlike other silky, smooth hummus recipes that require that you pick the skin off of every single chickpea, all you need for this one is a powerful blender or food processor.) In addition to chickpeas, you’ll also need tahini, fresh lemon juice, a little cold water, garlic cloves, olive oil, and spices like ground cumin, cayenne, and Himalayan salt.
The salt does not stop there! After blending all of this together, top with crumbled feta, Kalamata olives, green olives, diced roasted red peppers, tomatoes, fresh herbs, spices, and a glug of your finest olive oil.
