Little Debbie’s Newest Treat Is a Spin on Its Classic Zebra Cakes — And Childhood Me Can’t Wait to Empty Out My Piggy Bank
The food scientists at Little Debbie have been working overtime this year. After starting the year by launching their well-received ice cream line inspired by seven of their classic snack cakes, Little Debbie has upped the ante by announcing the release of Zebra Cake-flavored mini donuts. (At the rate that this longtime favorite snack company is going, it just may be the only brand you’ll see in my freezer and pantry!)
In case you aren’t familiar, a traditional Zebra Cake consists of a moist yellow cake layered with a tasty crème filling and encased in white icing with fudge stripes atop. Like the Zebra Cake, the donuts are yellow cake-based, covered with vanilla frosting, and topped with fudge stripes. The only thing missing, however, is the crème filling.
If you’re excited as I am, you won’t have to wait to get your hands on the tasty treat. The Little Debbie Mini Zebra Donuts have officially launched in stores, but if you haven’t seen them quite yet, they’ll be there soon. The donuts come in a resealable bag that may make it a little easier to not eat them all in one sitting. But with them being priced reasonably at $2.19 per 8.9-ounce bag, replacing what you scarf down quickly might not be hard to do.
If you’re looking for even more fun takes on childhood classics, the new frozen dessert line from Oreo or the new Fruit Loop-flavored jelly beans are great ways to get the nostalgia flowing.
