While tri-colored candy corn is the most Halloween-themed candy out there, it’s always been controversial. In fact, in a recent survey from CandyStore.com, 40,000 of their customers as well as others from various websites’ past lists of Halloween candy preferences (think: BuzzFeed, Business Insider, the Huffington Post, and Bon Appétit) show that candy corn is the least favorite out there.

Those that got ranked as the best or worst would get 10 points, and candies that got ranked the 10th best or worst would get one point. And lucky for last year’s worst candy, Circus Peanuts, they got upgraded to least favorite number two, as candy corn took its place.

It was also the least favorite in a few states in particular: Alabama, Idaho, Michigan, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. A few more on the no-no list? Bit-O-Honey, Good & Plenty, licorice, Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, Necco Wafers, wax Coke bottles, Peanut Butter Kisses, and Circus Peanuts. So, you can ditch those when getting trick-or-treat candy packs.

And the best? Well, obviously Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups came out as victorious with the number-one spot. And FYI, I can say that Reese’s are my favorite Halloween candy out there, too — dark chocolate Reese’s especially. The rest were Hershey Bars, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Butterfingers, Nerds, M&Ms, Kit Kat, Twix, and Snickers. All solid and delicious options.

So when you’re considering what to buy this year for office parties, trick-or-treaters, and your own late-night sugar cravings, follow the survey to figure out the best and worst picks to go with. Definitely Reese’s, Kit Kat, and Twix, if you ask me.
