The website started up in 2004 with the help of his brother, Oliver. Since then he has grown ApartmentTherapy.com, added TheKitchn.com, our home cooking site, and has authored four books on design. He now lives with his daughter in a lovely apartment in Brooklyn.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working on a secret project, and today I’m ready to share it with readers from both Kitchn and Apartment Therapy because it holds treasures for both: I’m talking about Apartment Therapy Marketplace, the largest home-design-only marketplace in the country.

In keeping with our core mission, nearly a quarter of a million buyers and sellers will be able to seamlessly connect with one another and make their homes better through both adding and purging (and making some cash in the process).

For the past four years we’ve been hosting a version of the marketplace, hidden in our site’s Shopping section and powered by our friends at Krrb.com (read this personal note from Krrb’s founder, George Eid).

Now, we’ve acquired Krrb and have relaunched the whole thing as the new Apartment Therapy Marketplace. This way, we can feature its design items and sellers more prominently and integrate both seamlessly into our shopping articles.
