“Our dream kitchen is in the planning stages,” says Matilde in this recent Apartment Therapy House Tour. So how do she and her partner cope with their New Orleans rental kitchen in the meantime? By hanging large pieces of artwork!

While Matilde and Gustavo work on designing their dream kitchen, they’re making do with the kitchen that came with their 710-square-foot apartment. The kitchen itself doesn’t have any fancy appliances or cabinets, but it’s a standout because of the dramatic artwork hung all around. “[This kitchen] has been made livable with art work by both Alberny and Duque and a chandelier by Hernan Caro,” Matilde notes in the tour.

We think it’s stunning, and turns this humble kitchen into something really special.
