Krispy Kreme Is Bringing Back the All-Green Doughnut for St. Patrick’s Day
I’ll be honest with you, there is not a single time of day when you can offer me a doughnut and I will turn it down. Glazed, double chocolate, vanilla sprinkles … I’ll take them all. In fact, lately I’ve been obsessed with this Vegan Donut recipe, so it’s safe to say that I have an opinion or three on the subject (don’t we all?).
Little did I know, however, Krispy Kreme has been preparing for St. Patrick’s Day the only way they know how: with a deliciously new doughnut collection. But this isn’t any ordinary collection though; KK has been secretly plotting a release that they claim is the real pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
Available for a limited time, the Krispy Kreme St. Patrick’s Day Collection introduces four festive doughnuts, all available in a St. Patrick’s Day-inspired dozen box. Here’s what you can expect if you plan to pick up a box:
- Lenny Leprechaun — a glazed doughnut decorated with green and black icing and a hat to look like a leprechaun
- Luck o’ the Rainbow — an Original Glazed dipped in green icing with sprinkles and topped with buttercream and a sugary rainbow piece
- St. Patrick’s Shamrock — an Original Kreme filled doughnut dipped in green icing and covered in shamrock-shaped sprinkles
- Green Iced with Sprinkles — an Original glazed doughnut dipped in green icing with a St. Patrick’s-themed sprinkle topping
This magical promotion starts today and lasts until March 17, but the party does not stop there. On March 16 and 17, fans can also celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the return of O’riginal Glazed Doughnut: Krispy Kreme’s original glazed doughnut gone green! And, anyone who walks into a Krispy Kreme location wearing green on these dates will receive one free O’riginal Glazed Doughnut. I’m not sure about you, but when I hear free doughnuts, my ears perk right up!
By this point your mouth should be salivating and your craving for doughnuts must be at an all-time high. Don’t panic, this is normal, and there is a simple solution: learn how to make your own doughnut glaze right at home! This Doughnut Glaze recipe will not only teach you the difference between icing and glaze, but is also the perfect recipe to experiment with flavors by subbing in fruit juice or coconut water for your milk ingredients.
