Krispy Kreme Just Launched Soft Serve Ice Cream for the First Time and Yes, It Tastes Just Like Doughnuts
Very few things hit on a hot summer day like soft serve ice cream. Whether you’re paying for an overpriced cone at the park, or enjoying homemade ice cream in your backyard, I think it is safe to say that a little bit of soft serve ice cream will forever hit the spot. Krispy Kreme, always on the forefront of innovation (see the Cinnamon Toast Crunch doughnut which shocked us last April), makes no exceptions when giving the people what they want, and their way to kick off the hottest season of the month is no different.
The doughnut giant just announced that, beginning today (June 21) they will be bringing their Original Glazed flavor to both cup and cone with the introduction of Original Glazed Soft Serve ice cream!
With a claim to be “ice cream as original and irresistible as its iconic doughnuts,” Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed Soft Serve is a “one-of-a-kind ice cream made with ingredients from Krispy Kreme’s proprietary and secret Original Glazed Doughnut recipe, including its iconic glaze flavor, as well as real whole milk.” Excited? You should be! Here are the deets I’m sure you’re melting to know (see what I did there?).
The new soft serve flavor will be available in seven delicious hand-spun shakes, cones, and cups. Each of the flavors are inspired by fan-favorite doughnut flavors with the waffle cones being made fresh daily. You’ll even get some toppings that are made from dehydrated Original Glazed doughnuts, too.
So, which flavors can you expect to try at your local shop? For shakes, there will be Original Glazed, Strawberry Iced Sprinkled, Chocolate Iced, Lemon Filled, Cookies & Kreme, Birthday Batter, and Coffee & Kreme. For cups and cones, however, fans can expect to try Original Glazed, Strawberry Iced Sprinkled, and Chocolate Iced.
If you’re ready to head to your nearest location and get your fix, you may want to pump your brakes. Though the new promotion rolls out today, only 10 U.S. markets will see the new soft serve flavors at Krispy Kreme locations, with other markets seeing the flavor at a later date. So, if you happen live in Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem in North Carolina; Greenville, South Carolina; Norfolk and Newport News, Virginia; Charleston, West Virginia; Nashville and the Tri-City area in Tennessee; and San Antonio, Texas, feel free to head on down to try some of these flavors for yourself today. For the rest of us though, the wait will have to go on.
While you’re picking up your soft serve, don’t forget to check out the brand’s Summer Collection — featuring an all-new berry glazed doughnut — exclusively available on just Sundays and Fridays throughout the summer.
