If you have a school-aged child, every season is bake sale season. We’ll admit it: Bake sales can be tough. First, you have to remember when the bake sale is. Second, you’re going to want to make something that will make the other bake-sale bakers jealous. (It’s an unspoken rule of bake sales.) Bake sales are also really great in many ways. They foster camaraderie, help teach valuable entrepreneurial skills, and who doesn’t love a treat at the end of a long school day?

To help you tackle your next bake sale assignment, we asked the Kitchn Collective to share their baked goods of choice.

1. Healthier Magic Bars

“How could you go wrong with chocolate + nuts* + coconut + caramel? You can’t. It’s impossible. This is one of those desserts that uses better-for-you ingredients but you don’t even care because it tastes so good.” —Lindsay Grimes Freedman of The Toasted Pine Nut

*Ed. note: Be sure to check your school’s nut policy before making these.
