The Kitchen Trend That Will Be Huge in 2021, According to Instagram
Considering a kitchen redo in the year ahead — specifically one that will pop on Instagram? Well, according to a recent study from Wren Kitchens, modern-style kitchens are going to be huge in 2021.
After analyzing over 500,000 Instagram posts from the U.S., Wren Kitchens found that modern styles with strong angles and lines ranked as top choice for Instagram users this year, meaning they’ll most likely continue to be a favorite come next year.
“The modern kitchen style featuring a simple and sleek design was found to be the most Instagrammable style of 2020, with 44,458 posts,” Wren Kitchens reports, adding that more specific details of modern kitchens like granite (49,619) and quartz countertops (23,652) also were tagged en masse on Instagram throughout 2020.
When it came to kitchen color schemes, Wren Kitchens found that white was the most popular choice with 48,753 tagged posts, and black was right behind it with 27,528 — both colors go hand-in-hand with a modern, monochrome aesthetic.
Just searching the #ModernKitchen trend on Instagram fills one’s feed with black-and-white streamlined kitchens. Silver-toned metal accents, a mix of wood, stone, and tile textures, and marbled surfaces are all the rage — and will most likely spill into 2021.
But, have no fear if modern-styled kitchens aren’t for you. Farmhouse style came in second place as a favorite kitchen aesthetic with 20,364 tagged posts, according to Wren Kitchens — a design style that usually features more traditional, rustic, and/or vintage-looking accessories, cabinetry, and appliances. Think, funnily enough, the opposite of a modern kitchen.
Though, you’ll notice the black-and-white scheme bleeds into both design styles — as do granite countertops.
You can get the best of both worlds by choosing a “modern farmhouse” look for your kitchen redesign. Clean lines with character, neutral colors with natural textures, chippy paint paired with streamline appliances.
The logic is that you can’t go wrong if you go with both big trends of 2021.
