7 Serving Pieces That Look Expensive, but Definitely Aren’t
There’s something so incredibly satisfying about your dinner guests fawning over your “super fancy” plates when, deep down, you know you only paid 50 cents each. (Whether or not you come clean and tell the truth/brag about it is totally your call!)
With the holidays coming up — and lots of sales currently going on — we decided to round up some of the best deals we’ve seen online. These serving pieces are all ridiculously good looking and on sale for way less than they have any right to be.
1. Ten Strawberry Street Wazee Matte 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, $39 (was $100) at Wayfair
Want to take your dish game to the next level? Feast your eyes on this set from Ten Strawberry Street. Not only is it dishwasher- and microwave-safe, but its matte stoneware style is also considerably chicer than the ubiquitous white porcelain plates in other peoples’ kitchen cabinets. During Wayfair’s dinnerware sale (which ends on Friday, November 2), you can save more than $60 on these plates and cups.
2. Cut Glass Pitcher, $10 (was $18) at Zara Home
For Zara’s mid-season sale, the store is slashing the prices of its fashion-forward threads and surprisingly stylish homewares. And when it comes to affordable luxury, it doesn’t get any better than this cut glass pitcher. At first glance, it looks like some priceless family heirloom that was passed down from generation to generation. But in reality? It costs just $10.
3. Beverage Glasses, $4 each (was $6) at H&M
Colored glasses can often run the risk of looking cheap, but there’s something about this style that looks downright luxurious. Available in three pretty shades — green, pink, and a gray-ish clear — you’re bound to find an option you love. (Writer’s note: I just bought six of the green glasses, so get them before they’re out of stock!)
4. Staub Ceramic Rectangular Baking Dish, $25 (was $65) at Sur la Table
Now this is what we call a good deal! Staub is the gold standard of kitchen accessories, and during Sur la Table’s bakeware sale you can snag this sizable baking dish for less than $25. A sale this good doesn’t come around often, so we recommend you take advantage of this offer while it lasts.
5. Lacquer + Veneer Tray, $30 (was $49) at West Elm
You might not have a butler to serve coffee or treats from this tray, but it’ll make you and your guests feel pretty darn fancy. It’s got sleek lacquer, wood veneer, and brass-finished handles. Use it when you’re entertaining and set it on a coffee table when it’s just you.
6. Megara Serving Bowl, $30 (was $42) at Anthropologie
This stoneware bowl looks like something a clay-slash-origami artist on Etsy would charge at least double for. And it’s dishwasher- and microwave-safe!
7. Marbled Ceramic Large Food Storage Bowl, $24 (was $29) at Urban Outfitters
Leftovers for dinner have never been more stylish. This gorgeous bowl can go from your fridge to your table and back again. And if you’re hosting Thanksgiving, you’re probably gonna have plenty of leftovers.
