Kitchen Before & After: Dark & Dull to Light & Delicious

This is one of the yummiest kitchen renovations we've seen in a while. Take a look at the startling transformation!

Quite a difference, right? So much brighter!

This 1920s Seattle kitchen started out dark, dreary, and dated. The homeowners have three pre-teens and a a busy lifestyle, and they wanted a bigger, more open kitchen. So they knocked out a wall and enclosed a back porch to enlarge the space. The whole family helped hang cabinets and do other parts of the work.

The new proportions still fit the old house and the vintage details make it feel like it belongs. In fact, some of the homeowners' friends thought this version of the kitchen came with the house!

We especially love the floor-to-ceiling cabinets, the wavy old-fashioned glass fronts, and the built-in hutch. Delicious!
