I Tried the New Kit Kat Duos Strawberry and Dark Chocolate Flavor — Here’s Why I Think It’s Worth Picking Up

If there’s one thing I have no problem admitting, it’s my love for all things sweet. Mix in any mention of it being something nostalgic and you’ve really got my attention. Though cookies are my secret love language (especially those new Oreo Chocolate Confetti Cake ones), I am — and have been since I was a kid — a huge fan of Kit Kats. So, when I heard about the new Kit Kat Duos Strawberry + Chocolate flavor, I just knew I had to give it a try.

To be honest, before I went on a mission trip to the Philippines in 2016, I was never interested in tasting any flavor other than the original. With the exception of Cheerios, I always feel as if not too many versions of products can compare to the original. While over in Asia, however, I discovered the wonders of the flavored Kit Kats and immediately fell in love with the Matcha Green Tea. After that, I was on a hunt to try as many flavors as I could to see what I had been missing out on.

Though I had the opportunity to also get a taste of the Strawberry flavor while in Asia, it didn’t hold a memorable spot in my mind. So, when the Strawberry + Chocolate Duos showed up at my door, I was hoping that I wouldn’t have the same experience. And lucky for me (and you if you’re reading this review), I definitely did not.

For context, the new Duos variety is described as being “crisp wafers in strawberry flavored creme + dark chocolate.” If the thought of dark chocolate turns you off, I’m here to tell you that you’ll want to rethink that notion. As soon as you open the packaging, you get a sweet whiff of what’s in store — and trust me, it’s worth the try.

Reminiscent of those legendary strawberry-filled chocolates that were included in the red mini-hearts of candies you got on Valentine’s Day in grade school, each wafer features just enough dark chocolate at the bottom and strawberry creme on top to create the perfect not-too-sweet combo. I may even dare to say that I would opt to pick this one up over the original version when shopping in store now.

So, if you’ve been on the fence about trying the brand new flavor, I’m here to put your reservations to rest and urge you to treat your buds (your taste buds, that is) to this new creation from Kit Kat. And the best part is, the Duos Strawberry + Chocolate — along with the new Kit Kat Thins Chocolate Hazelnut, which add a little spark to the OG flavoring and are just as delicious — are now permanent fixtures in the Kit Kat lineup.

Both flavors can be found at stores nationwide with the Thins being available in both 3.1-ounce and 7.37-ounce bag options.
