I’m no coffee-making expert, but I’ll do anything to avoid spending my precious dollars on overpriced lattes on the daily (and leaving my apartment first thing in the morning). So, I make my coffee at home almost every day. Sure, I treat myself to a pricey NYC latte a couple times a week (it’s good for the soul, right?!) but on the regular, I’m either whipping up my luxe, Oprah-loved Clevr Blends superlattes or using a good old French press or single-serve pour over for my daily cup. But, like anything, routine can get a little too much status quo. So, when I found out Keurig was launching a new smart coffee machine and they let me take it for a spin, I couldn’t say no!

Most of us have probably used a Keurig (hello, dorm days), but when I say this latest version is nothing like the models you’ve tried out before, I’m not playing around. The K-Cafe SMART Single Serve Coffee Maker is — just as the name suggests — pretty darn genius. You can connect it to the app via WiFi (fancy!), which allows you to save your preferences such as cup size and strength so you can get your java brewing while you’re still in bed, straight from your phone. You can also find step-by-step instructions for a bunch of tasty lattes, which comes in handy when you’re half asleep in the AM like me. Basically, your wish is this Keurig’s command.

This next-level machine also features BrewID, which automatically recognizes your K-Cup pod and recommends a curated menu of indulgent lattes that you can scope out directly in the app. On top of that, it boasts a MultiStream technology that saturates the coffee grounds more evenly for a richer flavor.

And for all you iced coffee drinkers (especially those who are dedicated to cold bevvies in the thick of winter): This smart device has an iced coffee mode, which brews your coffee extra strong so it doesn’t get diluted in ice. Why didn’t I think of this?!

Quite possibly my favorite part of this versatile machine? The powerful frother. I believe wholeheartedly that the foamy topping is what makes a really decadent latte stand out from the crowd, and this one delivers. It features multiple froth settings so you can whip up regular milk or dairy alternatives. My go-tos have been Táche’s pistachio milk (if you haven’t tried this stuff, you’re doing yourself a disservice) and Trader Joe’s new pumpkin oat milk. The frother is truly the cherry on top for me, and I don’t think I can live without this frother now that it’s been introduced into my life. I can’t tell the difference between regular milk and my dairy-free versions because it gets them so creamy!

Oh, and it may have just launched but it’s on major sale already. We’re talking $125 off! Now, if that’s not a reason to add it to your cart, I don’t know what is.

I will say that it does take up a decent amount of counter top real estate, so if you live in a teeny tiny apartment, it might not be for you. But, because it’s essentially like having your own barista in your kitchen, I think it’s worth every inch it occupies in my kitchen.
