Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop drinking iced coffee any time soon. Even in the winter, it’s my morning beverage of choice, although I usually switch to hot coffee if I feel like a cup in the late afternoon or evening. While I own all kinds of coffee makers for brewing hot coffee and espresso — French presses, stovetop percolators, vintage electric percolators, moka pots, and a drip machine — I haven’t really found anything outstanding for making quick, flavorful iced coffee. Until now. Enter Keurig’s brand-new K-Brew + Chill. Not only does it turn out a delicious cup of piping-hot coffee but, thanks to an innovative new process, it also produces cold coffee that comes out perfectly chilled  — even before adding ice! I can’t stop raving about this magical machine, and it even has my coffee-obsessed family buzzing.

What Is the Keurig K-Brew + Chill?

The Keurig K-Brew + Chill is a compact drip-coffee machine that uses K-Cup pods to make hot and cold coffee in six-, eight-, 10-, and 12-ounce sizes. The countertop machine has two key components: a 70-ounce water reservoir on the front of the machine, and a chill tank on the back. The removable reservoir is used for holding water to brew beverages, while the cooling tank chills that same brew and turns it into iced coffee. Before using the machine for the first time, the cooling tank must be filled with water and charged for a minimum of six hours. Once it’s ready to go, you’ll see two chilling bars illuminated on top of the machine. (Note that the water in the chill tank, which is not the water used in your actual drink, only needs to be topped off yearly.)

To make hot coffee, insert your favorite K-Cup coffee pod into the top of the machine and close it shut. Select the Hot option, the preferred brew size, and the Strong option if you want your coffee more robust. The Keurig K-Brew + Chill will then use its MultiStream Technology to saturate the grounds and produce a rich hot brew. For iced coffee, press the Cold button and follow the same steps. The machine prepares that same hot brew but then passes it through the chill tank, where the QuickChill Technology flash-chills it and produces a cold cup of coffee almost instantly.

Why I Love the Keurig K-Brew + Chill

Like me, my sister and her family are big coffee drinkers, so I decided to take the Keurig K-Brew + Chill for a test drive at their house. We made a variety of hot and cold drinks in our preferred flavors and roasts, and everyone was blown away by the results. The hot coffee was steaming and flavorful, and my sister and brother-in-law actually preferred it over the pod machine they currently own. I was wowed by the quality of the iced coffee, as was my nephew, who thought it was better than anything from a coffee shop. We both couldn’t believe how cold it was right out of the machine — all the coffee makers I’d used before this released lukewarm coffee that needed to be cooled down with ice. With this machine, we didn’t need much ice in our glasses, so the coffee’s flavor didn’t get watered down. Another perk we all loved was the larger water reservoir, which let us make numerous drinks in different sizes before needing a refill.

The Keurig K-Brew + Chill is a truly revolutionary coffee maker that’s perfect for anyone who wants to make café-quality coffee at home in minutes. And if you’re someone who loves drinking iced coffee (or even fruity Iced Refreshers) all year round, this machine belongs on your countertop.
