Keanu Reeves Hosted a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ Session and It’s Just as Wholesome as You’d Expect
Keanu Reeves hosted a Reddit AMA over the weekend and it went probably exactly how you would expect: a lot of polite energy coupled with introspective, Zen answers — and a few humble brags reminding us that, while he may not be conscious of it, Keanu is one of the most interesting people in Hollywood.
Between reminiscing about on-set moments with the late River Phoenix, fantasizing about sailing across an ocean, and waxing philosophical about the work of author Joseph Campbell, Keanu fielded a couple of food questions. And, in the process, provided some very interesting responses.
The one that may prove to be the most important for us to share? Keanu Reeves thinks pineapple belongs on pizza — but only under one specific condition: “if the pineapple is slightly roasted,” he replied to the age-old polarizing question.
With fans having petitioned for the actor to appear on Hot Ones since 2019, a question about whether he would appear on the First We Feast interview platform was one of the most upvoted questions of Keanu’s AMA session. Sadly, his answer was not exactly what fans were hoping for.
“I love chicken wings … but I don’t want to eat really spicy chicken wings,” he responded. “Especially not in public … and certainly not with the consequences in private. Bon apetit [sic].”
If you assumed that Keanu Reeves’ favorite drink would be something exotic and intricate, his answer to that question will certainly not disappoint. “I was recently in Tokyo working, and was taken to a bar owned by a master cocktail maker named Ueno-san called High Five,” he recounted, “and he made some kind of sublime concoction with a smoky mezcal and green tea and some mysterious sweet liqueur, chilled. Oh my god.”
In typical Keanu fashion though, that inimitable favorite cocktail is balanced by a slightly more mundane passion for Japanese whisky and red wine he revealed.
And our final foodie takeaway from the Keanu Reeves AMA? If aliens ever do decide to stop by Earth for a visit, he volunteers to be the first to offer refreshments.
