Chef José Andrés Calls Newest Restaurant Location a “Dream of 30 Years”
When he’s not traveling the world with his World Central Kitchen and helping feed those in need, chef José Andrés is opening ground-breaking restaurants. The celebrity chef and humanitarian took to social media to share the exciting news that his latest location for The Bazaar will be inside the Old Post Office Building, the former Trump Hotel that has now reopened as a Waldorf Astoria.
According to his post, the plan to open a restaurant in the historic building has been 30 years in the making. “People of DC big news! Today after a dream of 30 years I’m announcing we will open @bazaarbyjose in the Old Post Office! Building longer tables in the heart of our nation’s capital, welcoming people from across the city & the world,” he wrote.
According to The Bazaar website, the restaurant “takes guests on a wild sensory adventure born of José’s Spanish roots, both traditional and avant-garde, in a bold, playful atmosphere where anything is possible.” Each restaurant’s location is a unique experience, so who knows what the innovative chef is dreaming up for the new D.C. location.
The Bazaar currently has locations in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Miami, with New York and Los Angeles also joining that list later this year.
Additionally, the chef reported on his social media that another Russian missile has affected his mission to provide relief to Ukrainian refugees. While the first missile destroyed the food hub on the border of Ukraine and Poland, according to Andrés, the most recent strike hit the food train in Eastern Ukraine.
“Only 1 wagon of food fully lost, will save the rest! This won’t stop us — our amazing Ukrainian WCK teams will keep feeding the people,” he wrote after assuring that no one onboard was injured.
