Everybody loves Ina — that's not news at all, but it's always exciting to learn that celebrities (they're just like us!) are as obsessed with the high-goddess Barefoot Contessa as we are. This week on Bon Appétit, Jennifer Garner, Ms. Alias herself, wrote what amounts to a love letter to Ina, her recipes, and specifically her boeuf bourguignon.

First, she hems and haws — as we all would — at the challenge of picking just a single favorite Ina recipe, but then she tells a story (with only a little name-dropping regarding the time her Alias co-star Michael Vartan tracked down a signed copy of Barefoot in Paris for her) about the first time she cooked it. Like so many Ina recipes, it was super easy for her to make despite a long week, made the house smell amazing, and gave her the opportunity to throw a seemingly effortless dinner party.
Since then, she says, "I have made this recipe countless times," for small parties or in big batches. She runs through all of the tricks she's learned for it — how she likes to cut her meat (carefully trimmed, not cubed), that she needs to keep a close eye on the bacon, and that "the grilled bread dipped in the stew is worth every bite — even if half the table is filled with actors on no-carb diets!"
Her raves about the recipe are completely relatable to anyone who's cooked from Ina's books: "It is absolutely a winner and gives everyone the feeling of luxury and time and depth of flavor." Beyond the love she has for this specific recipe she says she sometimes goes through and reads Ina's earlier books to find fresh ideas for her cooking.
But she finishes off the article with a little tidbit that instills us all with jealousy that she has the experience to know this: "There is no one better to share a table with than Ina and Jeffrey!"
