Jennifer Garner Singing to Her Plants Is the Only Thing You Need to See Today
To celebrate Earth Day, Jennifer Garner treated us to a video of herself on Instagram doing what she does best: being a ray of sunshine. In the post, she shared a little melody with her vegetable garden (her rendition of the children’s song Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun) and, according to the caption, the reason behind the impromptu concert was simple: “Fun fact: singing to your veggies helps them grow. Happy #EarthDay!”
It appears the purple carrots love the Adam Project star’s voice, as the clip shows a time lapse of them growing from tiny seedlings into fluffy mounds of healthy and thriving veggies.
Garner’s caption also tagged @onceuponafarm, a company she co-founded that sells pouches of organic, cold-pressed fruit and veggie smoothies for babies and big kids. Some of the organic produce used for the blends is actually grown on the actress’s century-old family farm.
Farmer Jen (as she calls herself) revealed her long-standing connection with that farm and enjoying home-grown produce in a May 2018 interview with Well+Good. “My mom grew up on a little farm in Oklahoma with cows, chickens, fresh veggies — you name it,” she said. “Everything they ate, other than sugar and flour, they grew and raised.”
The actress noted that she wanted her own children (Violet, 16; Seraphina, 13; and Samuel, 10) to enjoy the same Earth relationship through gardening at home.
“It’s so fun,” she said of tending to their garden. “It’s like a living science experiment. In our garden, we grow tons of fruits and vegetables, and we’re so lucky to live where we live because we can grow almost anything — we can’t stop planting new things!”
While Garner has admitted she’s not perfect in the kitchen, this new video further confirms to us that she’s pretty close.
