I Tried Jeni’s Valentine’s Day Ice Cream Collection — and I’ve Never Been More in Love
Sure, flowers and candy make lovely Valentine’s Day gifts, but you know what’s even sweeter? Ice cream! Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, to be precise. The super-popular scoop shop just launched a bunch of different bundles to commemorate the holiday, each featuring six of its most popular pints.
There’s the Valentine’s Day Collection, which includes Gooey Butter Cake and Brambleberry Crisp; the Palentine’s Day Collection, which lets you and your bestie enjoy flavors like Frosé Sorbet and Salty Caramel; A Date with the Couch, featuring chill-icious delights like High Five Candy Bar and Brown Butter Almond Brittle; and the Gimme Chocolate Collection, whose name speaks for itself.
Because chocolate and ice cream are two of my favorite food groups, I tested the Gimme Chocolate bundle — and, if I can be frank (we’re all friends here), it’s so decadently delicious that I want to marry it. Let me explain.
What Is Jeni’s Gimme Chocolate Collection?
Jeni’s Gimme Chocolate Collection includes six top-quality flavors guaranteed to make chocolate-lovers swoon: Blackout Chocolate Cake, Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks, Boston Cream Pie, Darkest Chocolate, Green Mint Chip, and Texas Sheet Cake. The fabulously fudgy bundle features chocolate in all its glorious forms and flavor profiles, such as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, bitter fudge, chocolate cake, and bittersweet chocolate chips. Retailing for $68, the Gimme Chocolate Collection can be ordered on Jeni’s website and ships frozen nationwide.
Why I Love Jeni’s Gimme Chocolate Collection
These pints knock it out of the park. My favorite, Boston Cream Pie, tastes just like the actual dessert, with a rich custard ice cream base, yellow cake pieces, and gobs of thick fudge running through it. Neither too creamy nor too sweet, Darkest Chocolate is a dense dessert that reminds me of a supreme-quality Fudgsicle. I’m not usually a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream (I feel like I’m eating chocolate after brushing my teeth), but Green Mint Chip won me over. The mint flavor is fresh and not artificial, and the crunchy bittersweet chocolate chips complement it nicely.
Dairy-free Texas Sheet Cake is made with coconut cream, which is the first flavor I noticed, followed by tart cocoa, bittersweet chocolate fudge, and chocolate cake. Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks is a match made in heaven, while Blackout Chocolate Cake is a cocoa-palooza of slightly bitter chocolate ice cream, chocolate cake pieces, gooey bittersweet fudge, and semisweet chocolate chips.
It’s obvious that I’m smitten with this collection, which is why I think it makes a cool Valentine’s Day treat for a sweetheart, BFF, family member, or even yourself. Priced at $68, the Gimme Chocolate Collection costs about the same (or even less than) a fancy bouquet of flowers, and it lasts much longer. Actually, as someone who polished off a pint of Boston Cream Pie in one sitting, I can’t promise that last part. But I can guarantee that these incredible ice creams will melt anyone’s heart.
