The Controversial Everything Bagel-Flavored Ice Cream from Jeni’s Is Back, So Here’s Your Chance to Try the Garlicky Goodness
Some things are better off left alone and in my opinion, ice cream is one of those things. While I do like to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to flavors, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream continuously pushes the boundaries and the return of their most controversial flavors proves just that.
Back in January 2021, Jeni’s sent the internet into a frenzy with the unveiling of their Everything Bagel Ice Cream flavor to the masses. They were met with wildly polarizing reviews, which meant only one thing: Jeni’s was doing something right. Combining the savory, garlicky, and buttery taste of an Everything Bagel with the cold, smooth consistency of ice cream might not have been the flavor we were asking for, but most definitely is the flavor we needed. And while I am more of the type to keep my bagels and ice cream separate, I could not help but be intrigued.
Unbelievably, Jeni’s has been working on this flavor concoction for years. All made from scratch in Jeni’s Columbus kitchen, the flavor’s combination of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, onion, and garlic first debuted in her book, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream Desserts, before later becoming a main feature in their scoop shops. While they were left with reviews ranging from praise to confusion, the most consistent bit of feedback was that the flavor was spot on, quickly becoming the company’s most sought-after scoop.
Jeni’s Everything Bagel is available only for a limited time, beginning March 21. You can sign up to be notified via email upon release — but keep in mind, the savory goodness will only be available while supplies last.
But why stop at the unique pairing found in Everything Bagel Ice Cream when you can pair more unlikely ingredients and even more fun?
