If you were hoping to score one of the many celeb homes that have gone on the market this year, we’re sorry to report that you just missed out on some prime NYC real estate courtesy of Janet Jackson. The pop icon sold her beloved Central Park West condo at the end of the summer for nearly four times the price she paid for it in 1998.

The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath home is a corner unit on the 34th floor at 1 Central Park West. The condo boasts floor to ceiling windows throughout, bathing the open floor layout in light for most of the day. The master bedroom offers a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline, as do the two smaller bedrooms.

The views from the kitchen and connected living and dining rooms are equally breathtaking; maybe a little more so, if you enjoy the serenity of lush greenery more than a bustling cityscape.

Though surrounded by walls on two sides, separating it from the rest of the home, the kitchen also enjoys the floor-to-ceiling views, with a breakfast bar facing the giant window. As with the rest of the home’s design aesthetic, the kitchen is pretty sparsely decorated, with white vinyl cabinets and tile floors contrasting black walls and countertops.

Heavy wooden doors connect the kitchen to the dining room, with white walls and light colored furnishings offering even greater contrast to the cooking area.  The swing doors can, of course, be left open to let even more light into the kitchen. The dining area lies at the true corner of this unit, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Central Park.

According to Architectural Digest, Janet originally purchased the home for $2.8 million and used it as one of her primary residences until at least 2019. Even after relocating to London, where her former husband and father of her son also resides, the pop icon held onto the property with fondness. “Whenever entering my apartment of 25 years, I always treasured my home’s wonderful location and the breathtaking views that capture the magic and excitement of New York,” she said of the space. “Stepping through its threshold instantly made me feel so tranquil and at peace — so many memories.”

Though Janet’s condo was officially take off the market this fall for $8.995 million — which was actually below the asking price — if you’re interested in seeing more photos of the property, you can check them out here.
