The Pantry Staple I’m Adding to My Seltzer All Summer Long
Seltzer has a prominent fan base for a reason — the bubbly beverage is refreshing, versatile, comes in a ton of different flavors, and is a great alternative to soda (it’s also the secret ingredient in this simple mug cake). Today, you can find dozens of brands like LaCroix, Bubly, Schweppes, Sprindrift, and Canada Dry offering refreshing flavors such as lemon, lime, black cherry, passion fruit, and grapefruit.
But if you really want to amp up the flavor of your drink, use a spoon to mix a generous dollop of fruit jam or preserves into a glass of seltzer on ice. New favorite summer drink unlocked!
Not only is this drink super easy to put together, but it’s also completely customizable. I tried it out with raspberry jam and lime seltzer and can confirm that this is a delicious and easy combo. If you’re a fan of mix-and-match–friendly recipes, here are a few more combinations I recommend trying.
- Pamplemousse (grapefruit) LaCroix with apricot preserves
- Black cherry seltzer with raspberry or blackberry preserves
- Orange-flavored seltzer with peach preserves
All you need is a can of seltzer and your favorite store-bought or homemade jam. And for a little added fun, you could make an adult-friendly version and try adding a splash of your favorite fruit-flavored liquor or vodka!
