Whether you’re still leery of crowds or have a strict weekend regimen, the idea of having a grocery store mostly to yourself on Easter Sunday may sound like a dream. But if you are among the over 100 million members who turn to Costco to stock your home or office, you’ll have to make alternate plans on Easter — which falls on April 17 this year.

The international chain’s U.S. warehouses are closed on seven major holidays, including Easter and Christmas. Costco stores will be open on Good Friday and Holy Saturday (however, as hours of operations vary from warehouse to warehouse, your best bet is to check their website to plan your weekend shopping trip).

If scheduling conflicts make Easter Sunday your only available day to get groceries that weekend, you always can turn to Walmart or some Aldi locations as an alternative. 

While the convenience of Easter shopping might not be an option for its members, Costco recently announced the opening of nine new locations, making membership more accessible in five U.S. states and three Canadian provinces. The new locations are among 28 projected new Costco locations set to open across the globe in 2022. 

Despite being impacted by supply chain issues and COVID-19 restrictions, Costco opened 20 new stores internationally last year. The expansion saw the wholesale giant introduced in France and Japan for the first time.
