After the past 15+ months we’ve all been through, I would wager to guess that there is now a large conglomerate of people who can bake a loaf of banana bread with their eyes closed. Aside from sourdough, banana bread was the stress-baking treat of choice. We even went as far as to declare it “the official comfort food of the pandemic.” But now that vaccines are here and our social calendars are starting to fill up once again, said stress-baking is likely dwindling. (And so is our banana bread consumption.)

When all is said and done, the decline of stress-baking is a good thing. (It means we’re less stressed!) But does this mean our banana bread muscles are going to atrophy? If you’re worried about that happening to you, and want to keep flexing your banana bread muscles, I have a solution that will result in banana bread on the fly: GoNanas Instant Banana Bread.

These pouches, which just launched this week, make it possible to have a piping-hot banana bread (mug cake-style) fresh out of the microwave in a matter of minutes. All you have to do is add a single banana to a mug and mush it up like so.

Then, pour in the dry ingredients included in the pouch.

And pop it in the microwave for a minute and 30 seconds. Warning: While cooking, the batter will bubble up, rise, and make a slight mess of your mug which means it won’t be as pretty as the loaves you’ve been accustomed to making all quarantine long. (I mean, just look at the photo below. Sorry!) But if you ignore that and take a bite, that gooey banana goodness will bring you all the comfort you seek in a fraction of the time.

The pouches come in two flavors: Original and Cinnamon Roll, so you can mix it up. Speaking of mixing it up … chocolate chips are not included, but I may or may not be super tempted to throw in a handful the next time I whip myself up a mug. Also, it’s worth noting that these are completely vegan and gluten-free. And if you’re a grocery nerd like me, the simple ingredient list will bring you immense joy.
