This Instagrammer’s Pie Portraits of Celebrities Like Oprah and Bowie Are Unbelievable

In the long-running battle of cake vs. pie, the one thing Team Cake always had on its side was beauty. From petits fours to royal wedding cakes, cakes have always been the go-to dessert for show-stopping feats of fancy.

But lately Team Pie has been raising the bar, and pie crusts have been getting increasingly creative. Recently, people have even been experimenting with colorful pie crusts in vivid greens and purples, and one Instagram pastry star has been using her pie crusts to create celebrity portraits that look like they belong in a museum.

Pie artist, author, and YouTuber Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin goes by ThePieous on Instagram, where her latest project is turning pies into celebrity portraits, or “pietraits,” and they’re genuinely unbelievable.

Oprah Winfrey looks like an actual goddess on this caramel chocolate apple pie.

This cherry pie is a salute to General Leia Organa herself, Carrie Fisher.

David Bowie was amazing as Labyrinth’s Goblin King, and this apple pie looks just like him. I don’t know that I could bring myself to cut into it and eat it, but I definitely want to gaze at it for a while, preferably while listening to “Magic Dance.”

And Supernatural fans are going to fall in love with this pie portrait of Jensen Ackles as pie-loving demon hunter Dean Winchester.

These pies are all totally edible, and Clark-Bojin has written a whole book called Pie-Modding about how to decorate pies. You can even use it to “epic-up” store-bought pies and make them look as fancy as the ones she makes.
