Food Network Will Air an Ina Garten Thanksgiving Special This Weekend
As button-wearing, card-carrying members of the “In Ina We Trust” club, we’ve long used her books, television show, and tips to plan the biggest meal of the year, Thanksgiving. This year, she’s helping us out by bringing together some of her favorite recipes (and friends!) in a Thanksgiving-themed holiday special, airing this Saturday, November 17, on the Food Network, at 8 p.m. ET.
The good news, if you don’t have a DVR and can’t watch it right then (though we can’t think of a better Saturday night plan), is that it will re-air Sunday at 1 p.m. (and at 3 a.m., but we’ll skip that).
To hold you over — and get you stoked about the episode — Ina shared a video preview of the special on her Instagram that hints at her famous guest stars. Nigella Lawson stops by to cook red cabbage with pomegranate, chef Marcus Samuelsson makes his “killer collards” and Jennifer Garner (about whose fan-girling of Ina we’ve mentioned before) does an episode-within-the-episode of her “Pretend Cooking Show,” making her grandmother Exie Mae Garner’s sweet potato pudding.
Meanwhile, Ina herself will show off her favorite part of Thanksgiving: the side dishes. She shows some that you can make ahead and some that don’t use the oven: mushroom and leek bread pudding with homemade gravy, cranberry fruit conserve, and haricots verts with dill and hazelnuts. She’ll also discuss sautéed Brussels sprouts with bacon, celery root and apple puree, and three versions of mashed potatoes — truffled, Parmesan, and garlic. Finally, there’s roasted beet, butternut squash, and apple salad, and a root vegetable gratin.
And the good news — if you’re not patient enough to wait for the episode to air on Saturday night to finish your T-day planning, all of the recipes are already up on the Food Network website.
