Ina Garten’s Ingenious Hack Will Keep Your Turkey Nice and Juicy, Even After You Slice It
Though roast turkey is the star of most dinner tables on Thanksgiving, the bird can be polarizing. While some people love lean turkey, others complain that it can get rather dry when cooked.
After your turkey has finished cooking and has rested for at least 15 minutes, carve the turkey into slices and place it on an oven-safe platter or baking dish that’s been spread with a few tablespoons of gravy. Shortly before it’s time to serve the meal, transfer the whole platter into a warm oven (about 275˚F) to reheat.
This helpful hack from Ina comes from a video she created for the cooking retailer Williams Sonoma. In the video, Ina emphasizes that this technique ensures that the carved turkey stays tasty and moist. As an added bonus, this tip allows you to get the carving done ahead of time without having to worry that the turkey will be cold or bereft of flavor. Thankfully, Ina puts a lot of effort into thinking and prepping before one of the most stressful dinners of the year!
