For any food-lovers in your life, gifting ideas should definitely include something sweet and delicious. And Ina Garten obviously knows just what the perfect holiday gift is. It’s simple, affordable, tasty, and it’ll put a huge smile on your friend, co-worker, or family member’s face.

What is it? In a recent article in New York Magazine, Ina said she loves to gift a bag of shortbread cookies from the famous French bakery Poilâne. And these little cookies, called Les Punitions, or “little punishments,” are quite the opposite, as they basically melt in your mouth and offer a buttery, flaky goodness you’ll crave all season long.

They are a blend of wheat flour, butter, sugar, and eggs, and they are baked until golden and crisp all around. They have a bunch of these cookies at the bakery in different shapes and flavors, such as a spoon-shaped biscuit you can dunk in your cup of java, hot cocoa, or breakfast tea. Plus, there are even Christmas ornament cookies you can use as decorations on a tree (or ya know, just eat them, as I would…)

Ina’s go-to gift though is the awesome cookie tin, which comes with 900 grams (almost 2 pounds) of delicious buttery cookies. It costs $47 (plus shipping), which is a bit pricy, but it’s the season for giving, and the tin is beautiful, so the recipient can save it for festive display in their home once the cookies are gone.

Still, if that’s too much, you can downgrade to a smaller version. A 300-gram (which is 2/3 of a pound) bag of Les Punitions is $12. Now that’s perfect for any co-worker, too!

So, if you’re wondering what to get this holiday for those foodies in your life, take Ina’s lead (she never steers us wrong!), and purchase these for gifting. And hey, while you’re at it, you might as well get a bag for yourself too.
