Ina Garten Kicked Off the New Season of “Be My Guest” with Faith Hill’s Recipe for Coca-Cola Cake
Country singer Faith Hill may be world-famous for her music and songwriting, but apparently she needs to add home baker to her list of talents, too. And one of her fans happens to be one of the most famous cooking personalities around.
In the most recent episode of Ina Garten’s Food Network and Discovery+ show Be My Guest with Ina Garten, the famous songstress appeared alongside her daughter, Gracie, to make a sweet treat worth repeating: a delicious Coca-Cola cake, courtesy of Hill herself.
In case you haven’t tuned in to the show — which premiered this past March — famous friends of Ina show up to chat and cook with her in her East Hampton-based home kitchen. And depending on where you watch each episode (Discovery+ vs. Food Network), you’ll either get an hour-long version or a food-focused cut down to 30 minutes.
Coca-Cola cake is a classic Southern dessert that adds, as the name implies, cola to chocolate cake to make it taste extra rich, fudgy, and moist. It’s an unexpected ingredient that truly works and has been a staple at Southern bakeries and restaurants for years. And this particular recipe from Hill just so happens to be a favorite of one of the South’s biggest stars: her husband, famed country star Tim McGraw.
Faith and Gracie begin demonstrating the recipe step-by-step, with both the cake and the frosting calling for Coca-Cola. While the oldest of the Hill-McGraw children took lead on the frosting — adding cocoa powder to the mixture in a simmering pan — Ina couldn’t help but quip, “She’s going to have her own cooking show in two minutes!”
Eagerly replying that she’s up for the task, Gracie confirmed, “I’ve been working my whole life for this moment.”
The second season of Be My Guest with Ina Garten premiered Sunday, October 9, at 12 p.m. ET on Food Network and is also streaming on Discovery+ and will see Nathan Lane, Emily Blunt, and Marcus Samuelsson appear throughout.
