Let it be known that 2016 is the year of oddly colored foods. There’s the whole rainbow bagel obsession, then
blue wine
black ice cream, and now there are black hot dogs. That’s right — IKEA is serving up all-black hot dogs (or “Ninja Dogs”) in Japan for 300 yen ($2.95) to celebrate their 10th anniversary in the country.
The color of the hot dog comes from edible bamboo charcoal, which apparently helps to kill off toxins in the body. The hot dog is quite long at 30 centimeters, and the bun at 20 centimeters. It’s cutely called “Ninja Dog” because it is thought to look like a ninja’s scroll. You can get the hot dog at any IKEA in Japan until December 31, 2016.
