On what is easily the coldest day so far this winter, I met with IKEA to talk about … summer. Because, why not? The weather will warm up again eventually (or so I’m told) and IKEA waits for no squall: The stores will start to roll out the summer collection (and other new items) in February. Yes, as in the next few weeks!

I got a sneak peek and these are the new items I’m most excited about. Take a look and pick your favorite in the comments at the end of this post!

1. SOMMAR Beach towel, $13

I love a good food-themed print, and these poppy Popsicles (ha!) are about as summery as it gets. Also, this towel should give you a good idea of the colors you’ll see throughout the summer collections.

2. SOMMAR Glasses, $8 for six

This photo (and all the stuff in it) feels very modern ’70s to me. Especially the flower glasses, right? (That polka-dotted tray is also new and just $3!)

3. KLASEN Charcoal grill, $198

Of course IKEA makes the sleekest grill that looks more like a piece of furniture than a hot coal holder!

4. ÄDELHET Candlesticks/tea light holders

How smart are these candle vessels? They look great on their own but can also be stacked to make any sort of creation you can dream up. They come in two options: one that holds tea lights and one that holds tapered candles.

5. TISKEN Hooks with suction cups, $8 for four

Okay, I know this is a photo of a bathroom, but hear me out: See those four hooks on the pony wall with the sink? The yellow, pink, black, and blue ones? They have suction cups on the back, which makes them a great option for a tiled backsplash that you don’t want to (or can’t!) drill into. Use these in the kitchen and hang a utensil from each one.

6. YTTERBYN Doors, from $35 each

Whether you already have IKEA cabinets or are considering getting some, these doors may interest you. They feature some modern, graphic patterns created in the 1970s by 10-Gruppen, an influential Swedish design group. I love the idea of using a few cabinet doors as a makeshift accent wall.

7. RÖNNINGE Chair, $89

This new green chair (it also comes in birch) made me gasp out loud! And it’s more than just a pretty face: “Made with solid wood, it’s designed with comfort in mind, having a scooped seat and study design,” touts the catalog.
