IKEA’s 2020 Catalog JUST Came Out! Here’s What We’re Most Excited For.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting ALL MONTH for IKEA’s new catalog to drop. Year after year, it usually comes out sometime during the last few weeks of July. Typically, IKEA has a big event and editors (like me!) get to see the stuff in person. This year, though, there was no event — unless you count the little party I’m throwing right now at home for me and my pup (she is very confused and it is adorable).
The 2020 IKEA catalog has just been released (find it here) and I spent the morning flipping through it to find the new pieces that will help to transform our kitchens and dining rooms. The catalog is more gorgeous than previous years (not sure how that’s even possible) and I noticed a few themes throughout the pages. For one: There’s a lot that seems very Terrain meets Target’s Opalhouse. Also: There’s a lot of really good new functional storage furniture.
Here are the standout pieces.
1. VADHOLMA kitchen island with rack, $548
This island made our Editor-in-Chief, Faith Durand, gasp. Out loud! It’s got so much more storage than the average kitchen island, thanks to that hanging rack. Plus, it is beautiful. This guy, I actually did see in person (at a different IKEA event) and it’s even better looking in person. It’s also fairly large.
2. BROR utility cart, $99
Slightly smaller, but still awesome, this industrial utility cart can withstand moisture, dirt, and heavy loads. Wheel it around your kitchen as needed or keep it in the middle like an island.
3. OTTAVA pendant lamp, $40
I’ve recently seen something very similar to this at another store for nearly 10 times the price. I love it over an island or a breakfast table.
4. STUVA/FRITIDS wardrobe, $125
Technically meant for a kid’s room, I can totally see this little wardrobe being used as a makeshift pantry in a basement or garage. You can fill it with baskets and even use S-hooks to hang pots and pans from the garment rod at the top.
5. SAXBORGA jar with lid and tray, $15
Because there’s no such thing as “too much storage.” For $15, you get everything that’s in this photo, too.
6. MORGONTE plate/bowl set, $10
You’d probably guess that these are melamine based on the price, right? Well they’re actually porcelain! I love that they’re sold as a set and that they’re dishwasher- and microwave-safe.
7. CITRONSYRA plant pot, $6
The new catalog has a few plant pots AND a few pieces of enamelware. This item happens to be both!
Take a look through the catalog and then tell us what you’re most excited for in the comments below!
