This Ingenious IKEA Bread Box Hack Adds Extra Storage to Any Room in Your House
The next time you need additional storage for your shampoo and conditioner bottles, don’t head to the bathroom section at IKEA. Instead, go to the kitchen section.
TikTok account @craftfactory posted a video on how to turn a couple of IKEA bread boxes into a one-of-a-kind bathroom cabinet. In the clip, a DIY enthusiast paints the ridges of both bins in a rainbow color while coating the rest in white. Next, one of the boxes is given legs before she stacks the bins, securing them well with screws. For the finishing touch, she paints the handles gold to match the color of the legs.
The result is a cabinet that can fit in corners and small bathrooms. This is a great hack to try if the cabinets and shelves at the stores are not what you’re looking for.
If you’re planning to try this DIY project out, here are a few tips from the comments section. Some suggested that, to make the colors pop even more, you should paint the bins all-white first. Others added that you should seal the wood to protect it from the bathroom’s humidity. And if your IKEA is out of stock, there are similar bread boxes available on Amazon.
This isn’t the first hack of its kind. Others have tried it and produced amazing results with different looks. For instance, this breadside table (yes, that’s what they’re called) has an elegant feel to it, with only the edges and handles painted black. It looks so classy.
Here’s one with timber legs instead of the usual steel ones. And with the bins painted as one solid color, it’s hard to believe they were once separate units.
And of course, we can’t forget the original. The breadside table trend took off after TikTok account @onabudgetofficial posted about it back in June 2022.
I guess you could say we’re in loaf with this idea!
