IKEA 2018 Catalog Sneak Peek: 10 Products We’re Excited About
Get ready to wish this week was next week. Why? IKEA’s 2018 catalog hits stores next Wednesday (that’s August 2 — you can request your copy now and you can also browse it online on August 7). Exciting, right?
We couldn’t agree with you more: This is always our favorite time of year. Will there be something that’s even more versatile than the RÅSKOG cart? What amazing — and totally affordable! — tabletop finds will be on offer? What will their kitchens look like? So many questions!
Luckily, we have a few answers. In that we got a sneak peek at the catalog. Here are 10 new kitchen-related things we’re most excited about.
1. ODGER Chair, $75 each
“With its curved look and bowl-shaped seat, ODGER chair is made for hours of comfortable sitting,” IKEA says. And we believe them — these dining chairs (available in brown, beige, and blue) look pretty comfy!
2. ÖSTERNÄS Leather Handles, from $10 for two
This photo shows these handles on a dresser, but they’re durable and can withstand exposure to water, which means they’re great for the kitchen, too. A fun bonus: They’re made from leftover scraps from other productions, so no additional resources were needed to make them.
3. TILLAGD Flatware Set, $60 for 20 pieces
Available in brass or black, TILLAGD is meant to be worthy of everyday dinners and also special occasions. Of course, it’s all dishwasher-safe.
4. BACKIG Dinnerware, from $2
Made partly of glass from IKEA factory scraps that have been melted down and mixed with liquid pigment, these dinnerware pieces are just another example of how IKEA cuts down on waste. The squared shape and soft, rounded lines aren’t so bad, either.
5. STORHET Champagne Coupe, $2 each
Maybe you already have regular Champagne glasses from IKEA? These coupe glasses are not only good for sipping Champagne, but they’re also fun for serving up desserts or fruit salad.
6. MYRHEDEN Frame, $15
Use this frame to hang your favorite recipe cards, cocktail napkins covered in your greatest ideas, coupons, and more. The bottom row has a few hooks for spoons, scissors, bottle openers, or anything else you need to hang.
7. PRISTELLA Tray, $10
You may have noticed a dark, moodiness to the images in this post. You’re not imagining it! It’s definitely part of the look IKEA’s going for, and this laminated tray is the perfect embodiment of it all.
8. VÄGMÅLLA Throws, $15 each
There are still plenty of summer nights left to hang out on a porch or around a fire pit with drinks and desserts. These throws can help keep you and your guests warm through the fall.
9. TILLSYN Hourglass, $8
We don’t always love a tchotchke, but how glam would this hourglass look on an open shelf in a kitchen or on a bar cart?
10. FADO Table Lamp, $20
Set this glass guy (tinted in either yellow or gray) on your sideboard or a buffet and it can add some mood lighting to your next cocktail party.
That’s just a sneak peek because we haven’t gotten to really sit down with the rest of the catalog (hello, tonight’s reading material!). Check back tomorrow to see what else we’ve found!
