I Can't Taste Anything! What Foods Should I Eat?

Q: I had a bad cold this week, and I'm mostly over it. At this point, I can breathe through my nose well enough, but I still can't taste or smell ANYTHING. I can sense that things are sweet, sour, salty, or bitter, but it's just black and white sensation, not really flavor. What should I eat when nothing tastes like anything?

My second question: has anyone ever had this happen and had their senses of taste and smell come back? As an avid cook and eater, I'm very scared that it's not going to. (Yes, I've already checked with my doctor, and she said wait two weeks to see what happens.)

Editor: Readers, has anything like this ever happened to you? What foods would you eat if you lost your sense of taste?
