Life is a little quieter this summer, but that has its perks. Take nature: When was the last time you sat and looked up at the stars? A stargazing party is a dreamy way for your pod to gather safely and make the most of summer’s end. And, in our opinion, it’s way more captivating than any screen can ever be. Here’s how to do it.

The Scene

Blankets = built-in social distance. Since it’ll be dark by party time, set them up in advance, positioning each one at a safe distance. Don’t forget the hand sanitizer and mini flashlights (you’ll want to leave outdoor lights off for better gazing).

The Snacks

May we suggest astronaut ice cream? Or have fun decorating picnic-friendly cookies to look like planets, stars, and other celestial bodies. Have fun experimenting with mixology too: The Moscow Mule is a classic crowd-pleaser that even novice mixologists can ace. Just fill a mule mug with ice (source some solar system–shaped ice molds for the theme), add one part lime juice to three parts Absolut® Vodka, then top off with ginger beer. And cut some lines into half-moons (see what we did there?) to garnish. Absolut® is an ideal cocktail base, with its crafted blend of fresh ingredients and natural flavor. Leave a basket of snacks and drinks on each blanket. Happy gazing!

The Stars

Kinda the most important part. Time your party with an upcoming astronomical event, or just grab your binoculars and see what’s out there. Download an astronomy app to help identify what you find: Sky Guide and Star Chart use augmented reality technology to reveal constellations. Or buy a book of constellations from your local indie bookstore (just remember a flashlight to read it).
