Here’s How You Can Prevent Your Cupcakes from Baking Too Fast — Once and for All
If I’m going to be honest here, I need all the help I can get when baking desserts. Thankfully, however, whether it’s tips on creating a two-toned frosting, unexpected ways to make your cupcakes moist and tender, or tricks for bigger and better muffin tops, the internet is never short on ideas and practices to make baking a little easier for those of us who are a little less confident in our skills.
Now, thanks to @klynnskakes, I have an ingenious new hack that uses an ingredient I’ve had sitting under my nose this whole time — rice! Next time I’m baking sweets, I’ll bring out a few spoonfulss of rice to make the task foolproof and after reading this, you just might, too.
No matter which recipe I follow, I often run into the issue of my cupcakes baking too quickly or I’m left with greasy bottoms. With @klynnskakes’ hack (whose name is Felicia according to her bio), I can now solve these problems. The simple hack sees the cake artist sprinkle a teaspoon of raw rice in the tin to line the bottom of each space evenly. Place your cupcake liner on top, prep, and bake as usual. Once you remove the cupcakes from the oven, your issue of too-quickly-baked sweets will be no more! That’s it — it’s really that simple.
In the comments, @klynnskakes claims her pan conducts too much heat, and the outside was cooking before the inside. I’ve encountered this numerous times and have ruined whole batches. Adding rice to the bottom of the pan lifts the cupcakes from the surface and allows them to heat more evenly. This trick also helps prevent greasy cupcake bottoms because the rice absorbs the oil.
So there you have it folks. A quick and effective way to keep your cupcakes looking and tasting the best. Need more cupcake hacks? This is one even Anne Hathaway uses!
