Moms are busy people. Throw in distance learning at home, and moms become extremely busy people. Jehan Powell, mom of two and creator of the popular blog Jehan Can Cook, became acutely aware of that fact once school started up again this fall. So we got in touch with her to see how shopping with Shipt, a same-day grocery delivery service, could make life a lot easier when there are a bajillion things to take care of at home.

Jehan’s biggest hurdle when it came to grocery shopping for her family was that she always ended up buying more than she really needed. “I would just shop and pick up as I go, and as a result, I was spending more because I was buying unnecessary items,” she says. Shopping with two kids (who, like all kids, also tend to toss everything they want into the cart) wasn’t much of a help when it came to strategizing on what to buy, either.

A Personal Grocery Shopper Just a Text Away

Shipt seemed like a good time-saving (and money-saving) solution, so we asked Jehan to take it for a test run to get her groceries shopped for and delivered by a dedicated personal shopper. She had lots of different items on her list, but one of the best things about Shipt is that you can shop from multiple stores — like Target, CVS, and Petco — all from the same app. That can potentially save you an entire morning’s worth of errands.

Jehan decided to tackle grocery shopping and selected some of our editors’ favorite groceries including pantry staples, snacks, and a mix of spreads and sauces. “The ordering process was easy,” she says. “Once I placed my order, my shopper sent me a text introducing herself. She kept me up to date on where she was in the process and let me know when she was on the way to my house.” And if Jehan forgot anything, she could just text her shopper to add it to the list.

Saving Time in More Ways Than One

Jehan was super pleased that she could place her order when she had a few spare minutes at night, and have it all delivered early the next day. This let her start her day stress-free and freed up her entire morning to help the kids with distance learning. It also made shopping on a weekday much easier, which hasn’t been the case since the kids started school again. Her shopper got in touch right away via text, and kept her updated on where she was in the process and when she was on her way with the goods.

The other big benefit of using Shipt, Jehan says, is that “it forces me to plan out what I intend on purchasing, so whenever I shop I’m able to buy just what I needed.” That can be a major plus for meal planning and budgeting, especially if you’re someone whose quick Target trips tend to turn into marathons.

Jehan has used other grocery delivery apps in the past, but her experience with Shipt went above and beyond her expectations thanks to her shopper’s great communication, quick delivery, and the fact that you can shop from multiple stores in one app. Try it for yourself and enjoy same-day delivery on all your grocery needs.
