Q: I bought a large clay cooking pot in Mexico to cook my beans. Now after using it for over a year, the inside of the pot has a black residue that I can’t seem to remove. I’ve tried vinegar and dish detergent, but it still won’t come off. Help!

Editor: I’d suggest using warm water, along with baking soda, a brush, and a scrubbing pad, to try to remove the stains.

Readers, if you cook with a clay pot, how do you keep yours clean?
