Q: I’m moving into my first home in a few weeks. It has mismatched kitchen appliances: the fridge is white, the stove and dishwasher are black, and the cabinets are birch. It’s a little too much for my liking. Any tips on how to pull it all together without buying new appliances? Is stainless steel foil a good idea?

We’re also thinking about painting or staining the cabinets. The countertops are a little cluttered; the previous owner left all of her countertop appliances and kitchen decor.

We would probably suggest painting the cabinets to brighten kitchen, or adding some black hardware to pull together the black and white color scheme a little more.

Readers, any advice or thoughts for Stephanie?
