These “House of the Dragon”-Inspired Wines Are Perfect for Your Weekly Watch Parties
While I was never a fan of Game of Thrones, I heard enough chatter about it to have a basic idea of what it was about: dragons, royalty, and a whole lot of bloodshed. All of this sounded like it required a few glasses of wine to get through watching. So when I read that House of the Dragon — a prequel to Game of Thrones — had been released, I knew wine would be necessary for a viewing party.
Luckily Vintage Wine Estates and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have partnered for the perfect collab: a collection of three wines created in honor of House of the Dragon. The three red wines are dark and edgy, just as we’d expect them to be, and include a Pinot Noir, Red blend, and Cabernet Sauvignon — all bottled by Seven Kingdoms Cellars (which is also a Game of Thrones reference), a division of Vintage Wine Estates. Each of the new wines are a unique nod to the dynamics of the series itself, with the trio of wines being: “the king of wine varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, the winemaking art of a Red blend, and a seductive Pinot Noir,” according to a description on the House of the Dragon wines website.
Sounds captivating. Here’s to hoping the series will be as well! House of the Dragon wines are available nationally at houseofthedragonwines.com for $20 each and House of the Dragon airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
During its run, Game of Thrones inspired plenty of items, from OREO cookies to a tribute pie, so it’s about time we got some wine!
