The “So Tasty” Condiment I Use Every Single Day (It’s THAT Good!)
If you peeked into my fridge, you would see an entire shelf full of condiments. From hot sauce to ketchup to ranch to mayo, I’m never without a delicious dip to go with my fries or spread to upgrade my sandwiches. And while I admittedly have a ridiculous number of condiments in my fridge at any given moment, I absolutely have my favorites. When I want a spicy kick in the form of hot sauce, my pick is the Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce. But when I want to add a little heat to my dish with a fun-flavored mayo, I have a new fave.
Late last year, Ayoh made its debut with four mayos, including the Original, Dill Pickle, and sold-out Tangy Dijonayo. With former Bon Appétit editor and best-selling cookbook author Molly Baz behind the brand, I knew it had to be good (and I was right). I’ve tried them all, but the one I keep coming back to is the Hot Giardinayo, putting it on my sandwiches and toast and even using it as a dip. It’s spicy, but not too hot, and it’s packed with that pickly, peppery flavor that makes giardiniera so tasty.
What Is the Ayoh Hot Giardinayo?
Those who love the creamy richness of mayo and the tanginess of giardiniera won’t be able to get enough of Ayoh’s Hot Giardinayo. This spread brings two absolutely delicious condiments together to make one super-condiment that deserves to be slathered all over a homemade Italian sub (but, personally, I can’t wait to level up my next BLT with this mayo).
This condiment is hot (as its name implies), but I wouldn’t call it a spicy mayo. There are two things that make this spread different in my mind: First off, it has an acidic, pickled note to it that is very different from any spicy mayo I’ve ever had or made. Second, there are little bits of giardiniera mixed into the mayo, balancing the creaminess out with some texture. It truly feels like you’re getting two condiments in one!
Why I Love the Ayoh Hot Giardinayo
I’m about to make a bold statement: If I could only have one mayo for the rest of my life, I’d want it to be this one. Of course, I love having options and I hope it doesn’t come down to that, but the Hot Giardinayo checks all the boxes of a delicious condiment for me. This “sando sauce,” as the brand puts it, is spicy, a little acidic, and creamy, and it can boost any sandwich it’s slathered on, as well as any fry or nugget that gets dipped in it.
That said, I’ve been on a heavy toast kick lately, and I’ve been loving using this condiment on open-faced melts. I’ll spread the Hot Giardinayo on a toasted slice of sourdough and top it with diced grilled chicken and a slice of cheddar cheese. Then, I’ll pop it in my Wonder Oven to get the cheese all nice and gooey. It is heavenly, and the Hot Giardinayo is a key part of putting this lunch over the top.
There are few things that make me happier than adding mayo to what I know is going to be a great sandwich or getting to dip fries, chips, and veggies into a super tasty condiment. And when I pop open the cap of Ayoh’s Hot Giardinayo, I am always very happy about what I know is coming next.
