The “Adorable” $28 HomeGoods Kitchen Storage Find That Doubles as Decor (and Even Cookware!)
When it comes to Halloween decor, I like to reuse the few pieces I have to avoid waste and clutter, only treating myself to a festive candle or a bouquet of seasonal fall flowers here and there. There was one $30 item from HomeGoods, however, that I saw making the rounds on TikTok that completely inspired me.
Unfortunately, it was totally elusive and practically sold out in stores everywhere, but after some research, I ended up with the most useful kitchen item that not only works as autumn decor, but for year-round storage and cooking.
The cast iron cauldron, as it’s known, found at HomeGoods is a four-quart pot with a lid that can be used the same way a Dutch oven is used, from pastas to stews. I opted for the $28 Lodge Cast Iron Country Kettle, however, which doesn’t come with a lid, so it’s a great piece to keep cheese fondue melty and warm; as a vessel to make an individual pot pie or cobbler; or, as I plan to use it this Halloween, as a decorative bowl.
Whether it’s a smudge bowl to let my sage bundle burn, as a dish for a tealight candle to set a spooky mood, or as a candy bowl centerpiece for game nights or passing out candy, this cauldron-esque kettle has been the best addition to my kitchen (and other parts of my home!).
Like other cast iron kitchenware, this cauldron is rust-proof, oven-safe, and pre-seasoned with 100% natural vegetable oil. Despite the reputation of cast iron care, there are several methods and accessories to preserve its quality to make it last you a lifetime. I know I’ll definitely be keeping this cauldron for many Halloweens to come, and throughout the year to add a witchy touch to my home’s aesthetic.
This Lodge cauldron is also available on Amazon, but if you’re looking for something with a lid that’s slightly larger, this Bruntmor option is especially great for camping and outdoor cooking.
