Hershey’s Is Releasing Plant-Based Options for Two of Your Favorite Candy Bars
When I was growing up, Reese’s peanut butter cups were a go-to for me. Every Halloween, I’d sit and eat my fair share of the classic treat and pretend I was in a chocolate oasis. The smooth blend of creamy chocolate with the nutty flavor of peanut butter was a winning combination for my taste buds.
This love of peanut butter and chocolate expanded from the traditional cups to the candy pieces and, as I got older, the breakfast cereal. Once I stopped consuming dairy, however, I feared I’d never again enjoy the comforting flavor I adored.
Thankfully, though, Hershey’s has come to the rescue with a new Reese’s plant-based option that I can’t wait to dig into. Given Hershey’s reputation as a leader in the chocolate industry, the obvious concern has been what they will use in place of milk in their classic recipe. The answer? Oats! And as a massive fan of the rich and creamy texture that oat milk adds to my coffee and ice cream, I knew I was in for a good time.
Aside from Reese’s, another Hershey’s fan favorite is getting a vegan makeover this year, too. In April, a plant-based Hershey’s Extra Creamy Almond & Sea Salt chocolate bar will be available for those looking for an alternative to the classic Hershey’s Milk Chocolate with Almonds bar.
While exact prices have not been released, Hershey did confirm that the new offerings will be priced higher than their non-vegan counterparts. And with Easter just a few weeks away, now’s the perfect time to fill Easter baskets with this new line of goodies.
